Corporate History
Typically written to celebrate a milestone such as 50 years in business, a quality corporate history is an asset that provides a range of benefits:
- A source of motivation and pride for employees and owners
- A promotional document underlining the long term reliability, solidity and reputation of the company
- A way to preserve the corporate DNA of the organisation and its culture, as a blueprint for the ongoing success of the company regardless of changes in personnel
- To promote the firm to prospective employees, that they will be part of a safe and enduring organisation that cares about its staff.
- A means to honour the company’s founders and those who helped build its success from the ground up.
In 2013 I wrote Strength to Strength: A 75-Year History of Powell Fenwick Consultants. It was a rewarding experience and close to the heart as I had worked for the firm for more than thirty years, and seen it grow from 17 staff to over 100.
I loved digging through archives, photographs and old newspapers, interviewing past and present staff, and working with a graphic designer to produce a striking book. Important to the quality and readability of the narrative is believing in the company’s people-focused ethos. And I can bring that same belief to your project.
The very act of engaging a corporate history to be written points to a healthy company culture. And whatever is the secret sauce that keeps your people engaged and your clients happy, I will bottle it and preserve it in a book you can be proud of.
Sports Clubs and Community Organisations
The above points apply equally to sports and community organisations. As a sports fanatic with a background in cricket, football and rugby I would bring that enthusiasm and insight to any sports booklet. As for community organisations, be they charities, outreach or social groups I would bring a keen ear, endless curiosity, ferret-like research skills and dedication to the task.
